It’s a process from professional to popular. Touchscreen technology allows more people to use the computer. The touch screen is an interactive input device, and the user can control the operation of the computer by simply touching a position on the screen with a finger or a light pen. Therefore, the touch screen technology has the characteristics of simple operation and flexible use.
Touch Panel technology originated in the 1970s and was first applied to the US military. Since then, the technology has gradually migrated to civilian use. With the development of electronic and network technologies and the popularity of Internet applications, a new generation of touch panel technology has appeared with its products one after another, and its many advantages such as ruggedness, fast response, space saving, and easy communication have been recognized by the public.
The essence of a touch screen is a sensor, which consists of a touch detection component and a touch screen controller. The touch detection component is installed in front of the monitor screen and is used to detect the user’s touch position and send to the touch screen controller. The main function of the touch screen controller is to receive touch information from the touch point detection device and convert it into contact coordinates and send it to the CPU. At the same time, it can receive commands from the CPU and execute them.
According to the type of sensor, touch screens are roughly divided into four types: infrared, resistive, surface acoustic wave, and capacitive touch screens. Infrared technology touch screen is cheaper, but its frame is fragile and it’s easy to produce light interference, and it is distorted under curved surface. The capacitive touch screen design is reasonable. Resistive technology touch screen is accurately positioned, but it’s quite expensive, and it is afraid of scratching. The surface acoustic wave touch screen solves the various defects of the previous touch screen, but its disadvantage is that if there is water droplets or dust on the screen surface, the touch screen will become dull or doesn’t even work.
